A Quick Word

MS Paint at Work is a blog taking requests from its readers. If you have an idea, Sarah - the writer and artist - will do what she can to realize your idea by using MS Paint as her medium. If you have a wonderful drawing idea, send us an email at MsPaintAtWork@gmail.com

Last New Post for the Evening

Broccoli Family Portraits

This is my final update for the evening. This cute image was requested by vortex_thrace. He specifically asked for a broccoli family, but what better way to depict a family than in their family portrait! I love drawing broccoli, they look so fluffy and this family seems super happy. But man, has all this drawing got me pooped. I've really enjoyed all the requests I've gotten from reddit, but I don't know how quickly I'll be able to get the drawings up.

That being said, I'm going back to my original schedule starting tomorrow, but I'm going to post more than once a week to help keep the requests under control and to help keep the requester's happy. No one wants to wait a month for their drawings!

So, for the final time this evening, please feel free to email me any requests at MsPaintAtWork@gmail.com, comment requests below, or post to the reddit thread mentioned in the Kenny Chesney drawing. Thanks everyone and have a great night!

Draw Me!

No, ME! But draw me!!

During my Reddit Escapade, I had many "Draw my username!" requests! so I decided to draw a picture of the first four people who requested it having a get together of sorts. The redditors were: Hamst3rdamm, SecretHijackers, OMFGmomgetthecamera, and reverend_green1 requested we draw his ax! I know this is the highest quality I could do, but given the short amount of time, I wanted to make sure that I took the opportunity to represent their usernames (and the reverend's ax) in a way I fel would correctly capture their reddit personalities.

Than you ladies and gentlemen (or just ladies, or just gents, or both!) for the awesome request! I love drawing fresh ideas, and I might start to feature more reddit usernames as I go along. Comment below to include any of your additional suggestions and I'll draw them for you!

Emergency Blog Update!

I promised Reddit I would deliver, so I am going to deliver!

If you were not aware of the Reddit community, you will be after today. I decided to see if I could put my new found networking skills to the test since I have completed my business communications class. I went onto Reddit, a public forum site with all sorts of forums such as /r/askReddit or /r/AMA (Ask Me Anything), or /r/airplanes. Pretty much any subject you can think of probably has a sub-reddit. I posted on to /r/AskReddit today and said "What do you want me to draw for you on MS Paint, Reddit?" And I got over 70 requests! That means I have a post for almost every day in the summer! I decided to post the first image requested on the reddit thread which was Kenny Chesney beating up a ground hog with a pool cue. What a tall order for my first request! Then, as the hour ticked by, the requests started to add up, and quickly. I did what I could to reply to every single comment to let them (and me) know their image was going to be drawn.

So, for tonight only, when I am NOT WORKING, I am going to be posting a few images from the thread as a thanks to Reddit for giving me such wonderful ideas, and hopefully, this will help the image requests continue to roll in!

So about this Ground Hog

This image was requested by robdeerdick from reddit. Kenny Chesney decided it was time to switch up his tour a bit because he was loosing some of his fan base in cities he didn't visit very often. Kenny Chesney put Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on the map for ground hog day to meet the world famous ground hog himself! Much to his surprise, Kenny Chesney was going to be in the same boat as Bill Murray was when he visited Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Mr. Chesney had to relive the concert over and over again. In this rendition, you can see Kenny Chesney is pretty fed up with Phil the ground hog and decides to beat him with his pool cue. Odds are, Kenny Chesney is going to have to relive this day again.

There will be two more posts tonight, so stay tuned! If you have a drawing request you can comment below, send your request to my email at MsPaintAtWork@gmail.com or you can comment on the reddit thread linked above. Thank you robdeerdick for the request! It was a blast to draw and I hope you enjoy it :)

Rosie and Her Chickens

They're Playing!

My dear friend Meagan, who lives in Colorado, asked me to draw her doggy Rosie playing with her chicken friends. Rosie was rescued when Meagan fell in love with her at the animal shelter in Roswell, NM. She was on the kill list because she had yet to be adopted. Meagan took her lovingly into her home and they have been best friends ever since.

Now, drawing puppies is incredibly hard, especially when you're trying to make a puppy look like an actual dog. The online dog draw tutorials are not much help when the dog is a mutt and resembles no breed in particular. Here is a picture of Rosie for comparison:

I am super proud of my Rosie caricature though! There was no easy way for me to get the speckled look of her fur, and I feel like the spray can technique would not do her beautiful coat justice. I am also really proud of this background. It's the first time I have actually used the new paint brushes for the upgraded MS Paint. I'm pleased with how it looks, but the features are hard to get used to and I don't see myself using them too often.

I have not had the opportunity to meet Rosie, but I am willing to bet she is a loving, kind, snuggle-puss because I know she lives in a loving, kind home with a particular person (Meagan) who loves to snuggle. Don't forget to email me or comment your drawing requests! Until next week

Pricess Slipper and Her Mighty Tea Party

As Mighty as a Tea Party can be, anyways.

Meet Princess Slipper and her friends (from left to right) Mr. Fuzzums, Kitty McStuffins, and Miss Quackley. This drawing was requested by my dear cousin Jennifer. Jennifer has the sweetest little girl named Catherine who is in love with her stuffed dolphin, Slipper.

Now, I know that Mr. Fuzzums and Kitty McStuffins look particularly depressed to be at this tea party, but they can't help that their eyes are sewn in that way. In fact, Mr. Fuzzums is a caricature of my favorite stuffed animal from my childhood. He was a lavender, beanie bear. I, of course, still have him. He lives on my bookshelf in my bedroom with all of my other stuffed animals to keep things under control.

Princess Slipper is the head princess of the stuffed animal kingdom: Catherine's Toy Box. Today is her birthday and she is celebrating with her loyalist of subjects. They have already open her presents, which were a new dolphin dress from Miss Quackley, a new book from Mr. Fuzzums, and this new tea set from Kitty McStuffins. Princess Slipper decided the best way to celebrate the end of her birthday was to have a tea party as thanks for all of her loyal subjects celebrating with her!

Mario Being Chased by TWO Toads

Look out Mario!

I've completed my finals which means a fully, fleshed out, bonus, blog posting for you! This beautiful image was requested by my other Australian friend Dylan, who you might remember from Cacti and Books. He was the one that reminded me I had a blog and I needed to get back into the swing of things! So here it is!

This particular image took a lot of time considering I haven't played many of the Mario games, but I have played some of them. I originally was going to do an 8 bit version of the pictures, but I felt that would be cheating considering it doesn't take any effort to click a square into the right spot and Paint has this nifty grid system to make it even easier. As many of you know, I am not a fan of cheating but I went ahead and drew out the 8 bit drawings so I would have a reference for when I actually free-hand the characters. Overall, free-handing the characters took more time than the 8 bit versions, but only because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I'm really pleased with this piece and I feel like I captured Mario's mustache the most accurately!

The Schedule:

My goal is to post at least one blog a week, that way I can take the time to build up blog postings for when I am back in school. I plan on posting Mondays, but I don't know what time yet. I'll let you know as soon as I have made a decision. As many of you know, I'm working towards earning my bachelors degree in Business Administration and I am more than halfway done with my degree. Hooray! I am also done with finals and will have a full summer worth of blog postings, just for you!

However, this summer will be the final summer I am working at the library. I am very saddened to have to leave because I love this job, I have super awesome bosses, and it's a very convenient job to have. Since I am done with all of my junior college classes, that means I can no longer work at the library as a student assistant. I will have to start hunting for a job (again). I'll be sure to keep everyone posted but I might get a job that requires a little more attention and less time for blogging. Never fear though! I will keep the blog going, even if that means it'll no longer be MS Paint at Work.

If you have any cool names for my blog, please feel free to let me know in the comments section or by emailing me at MSPaintAtWork@gmail.com. Don't forget you can also send any art requests via commenting and email as well! Until next week! - Sarah

A Business Bumblebee

This bumble bee can't handle it

As many of you know, I have been busy attempting to achieve my business degree. During the semester, I have no time to work on my blog/requests because I am so busy studying for Managerial Accounting, Business Law, Business Calculus, etc. However...

The hiatus is soon to end!

I am not taking any classes this summer and I'll be spending all of my time working at the Library, meaning I will have all the time in the world to draw everyone pictures, until the Fall semester starts up again. That being said, there will be some changes to the way I post the blogs.

I'll only post once a week

This will allow me ample time to draw requests, prepare for future blog posts, and possibly pile up blog posts for the future so I can (hopefully) keep updating the blog in the future.

Stories!

I'll do my best to include any juicy stories of patrons I run across. Generally, there aren't any issues but I can always include stories from the past. Can't guarantee they'll be interesting, but hey! It's worth a shot.

So what about this bumblebee?

This bumblebee, specifically this bumblebee that can't handle the high-octane life of business, was requested by Vincent, the wonderful Australian friend who has requested such pieces as "Underwater Smoke Break" and "Fluffy Sheep with a Silly Hat"! I thought this cute picture would be a great way to start back up my blog because this semester has got me pretty down about majoring business. But more on that another day! Please feel free to send me your requests at MSPaintAtWork@gmail.com !
